Robert M. Zone, Jr, PhD

Dr. Robert Zone is a Managing Principal of Petronyx Consulting Engineers, a New Orleans firm specializing in the design of oil and gas production facilities and pipelines in the offshore and inland waters of Louisiana and Texas and various international locations.  He oversees offshore projects from their conceptualization through the design, engineering and installation phases. He is also responsible for the regulatory compliance and permitting functions required to install and operate offshore facilities and pipelines including federal, state and parish regulatory bodies.

Dr. Zone acquired his bachelor’s and doctorate in biomedical engineering from Tulane University where he specialized in and was an instructor of courses in polymer science and biomaterials.  He has maintained principal positions in various research and technology companies in the New Orleans area and maintains a keen interest in advancing technology that improves the environmental controls in over water oil and gas production systems.

He is a member of the American Petroleum Institute, Delta Chapter and American Chemical Society.


Challenges in the Design of Oil & Gas Facilities in Coastal Waters

A presentation of the challenges facing engineers designing oil and gas facilities in the outer continental shelf of  the Gulf of Mexico and the inland waters of Louisiana. A discussion of the effect that recent hurricanes on these design processes will be presented.
