Giovanna A. DeQueiroz, PhD
Dr. DeQueiroz’s professional interests involve research on developing integrated technologies to convert biomass into higher value products including ethanol, specialty chemicals, biomaterials and animal feed; the use of antimicrobials to inhibit disease-causing microorganisms in foods; and identifying and characterizing antimicrobial resistant bacteria from food products, animal products, and farm environments. She also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of food microbiology; food safety; and biomass utilization for the production of biofuels and bioproducts.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science (Food Microbiology) from Louisiana State University, a Master of Sciences in Animal and Food Industries (Food Microbiology) from Clemson University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Clemson University.
She has worked for Pfizer as a Food Scientist and Creanova Inc. as a Microbiologist. Currently, she serves as Assistant Professor at the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Audubon Sugar Institute in Saint Gabriel, LA.
