Revis W. James
Revis James is Director of EPRI's Energy Technology Assessment Center (ETAC) as well as Program Manager for the Power Technology, Market Analysis and Risk program within EPRI's Generation research sector. In his ETAC capacity, James' current research activities are focused on identifying strategic research and development priorities for the electric power industry based on different economic and policy scenarios, and long-term analysis of generation asset portfolio planning. He has been a lead author on several key EPRI public domain reports and analyses, including The Power to Reduce CO2 Emissions: the Full Portfolio (2007, 2009) and Advancing the Efficiency of Electricity Utilization: Prices to DevicesSM (2006). James' responsibilities include extensive communications with federal and state policymakers and regulators. He has been interviewed and cited widely in the media, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, and Clean Skies TV.
James joined EPRI in 1992 as a project manager in the Nuclear Sector. He initially managed research programs in instrumentation and controls, human performance, and maintenance optimization in the nuclear sector. Subsequently, James managed the EPRI long-range strategic research program for several years. More recently, James spent two and a half years in Paris, France developing a collaborative strategic research and development program with the R&D division of Electricité de France.
Before joining EPRI, James worked at ERIN Engineering & Research, Impell Corporation, and Bechtel Power Corporation. After nine years in nuclear power plant design and system analysis, James moved into applied research for the electric power industry, focusing on severe accident analysis and process instrumentation.
James earned Bachelor of Science degrees in nuclear engineering, electrical engineering and computer sciences, and a Master of Science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. James speaks and writes fluent French.
