Dr. Donald (Don) A. Juckett Ph.
D.
Don
Juckett is the Director, Natural
Gas and Oil Import and Export
Activities in the Office of Gas
and Petroleum Technologies of
Office of Fossil Energy. His responsibilities
include industry liaison, technology
transfer coordination, and coordination
of crosscutting technologies for
international activities related
to natural gas and oil in the
Office of Fossil Energy. He has
served as the oil and gas technical
lead for Departmental mission
activities with China, Mexico,
Africa, Ukraine, Russia and Western
Hemisphere Energy initiatives.
He also participates in APEC oil
and gas initiatives. His office
has responsibility for authorization
of the import and export of pipeline
and liquified natural gas in the
U.S. Imports of natural gas represented
approximately 18% of U.S. consumption
in 2000. Presently he is co-chairman
of the Administration's National
Energy Plan - Alaska Natural Gas
Pipeline Inter-Agency Task Force.
He joined the Department of Energy
in 1988 and has served as Special
Assistant to the Assistant Secretary
of Fossil Energy where he was
responsible for special projects
in natural gas and oil for the
Office of Fossil Energy in contract,
technical and crosscutting activities
reporting to the Assistant Secretary
for Fossil Energy. He has also
served as Acting Deputy Assistant
Secretary for Gas and Petroleum
Technologies; Director, Office
of Gas and Oil Exploration and
Production, and Director, Office
of Geoscience Research.
His
activities at the Department
of Energy have included; technical
lead for developing an operating
agreement for the Department's
Elk Hills field in Bakersfield
California, the Fossil Energy
lead for the development of
natural gas and oil policy,
developing budgets and managing
the Office of Fossil Energy's
natural gas and oil technology
program, developing the support
contract for the Bartlesville
Project Office which expanded
the functional role of the Department's
oil technology program, and
managing the Office of Geoscience
Research, including technical
functions, and policy analysis.
Prior
to joining the Department of
Energy in 1988, Dr. Juckett
was employed by Phillips Petroleum
Company. During that period
he worked in exploration and
production, and in R&D.
During his career he worked
on, and provided technical support
for, thirty plays in the U.S.,
including the East Coast, the
Gulf Coast, the West Coast and
Alaska offshore as well as the
lower 48 and Alaska on-shore.
He also worked prospects in
the North Sea (U.K. and Norway),
Europe, the Middle East, South
America, Africa, the Far East
and Asia.
At
Phillips he held several positions
including, Director, Hydrocarbon
Systems and Surface Detection,
Exploration and Production;
Supervisor, Organic Geochemistry
and Geological Modeling, Supervisor,
Organic Geochemistry Section,
Senior Research Chemist, Stable
Isotopes Section, and Research
Chemist, Senior Scientists Staff
for Exploration and Production
Research.
From 1968 to 1971 he worked
as Senior Chemist for the New
York State Health Department,
Birth Defects Institute conducting
research in amino acid deficiencies
and genetic disorders.
He
was granted a Ph.D. in Organic
Chemistry in 1974 from the State
University of New York at Albany,
a B.A. in Chemistry in 1967
from the State University of
New York, College at Oswego,
and an A.A.S. in Chemistry in
1963 from Adirondack Community
College.
