Presentation Topic : The Future of Hydroprocessing in the Refining Industry

By: Howard Moore

Hydroprocessing represents the growth business in a refining industry often viewed as low/no growth. Hydroprocessing already represents a significant portion of the capacity of today's refinery. Tomorrow's refinery will be even more dependent on hydroprocessing as new fuel regulations for ultra-low sulfur gasoline and diesel products are implemented in the 2004-2006 time frame. Even many alternative fuels projects, such as the hydrocracking step of gas-to-liquids plants, will require hydroprocessing capacity. This growth will require significant capital investments, engineering resources, new technology, and more than double the present annual production of hydroprocessing catalysts
