Dr.
Charles W. Pryor, Jr.
Dr.
Pryor was appointed chief executive
of BNFL's Nuclear Utilities
Business Group July 1, 2002.
He is responsible for Westinghouse
Electric Company and the commercial
operations of BNFL's United
Kingdom-based Spent Fuel and
MOX fuel businesses and the
related transport business.
His appointment stems from a
high-level restructuring of
BNFL that aligned the company
into two business groups: Nuclear
Utilities and Government Services.
Prior
to this position, he was president
and CEO of Westinghouse Electric
Company, headquartered in Pittsburgh.
He was appointed president and
CEO in 1999 when CBS Corporation
sold the commercial nuclear
businesses of Westinghouse Electric
Corporation to BNFL.
During
his Westinghouse tenure, Dr.
Pryor led the Westinghouse acquisition
of the ABB-Combustion Engineering
nuclear businesses that transformed
Westinghouse into a global nuclear
power company with $1.8 billion
in revenue and more than 9000
employees in every nuclear power
region of the world.
He
joined Westinghouse Electric
Corporation as president of
the Energy Systems business
unit in 1997. He spent more
20 years with the nuclear power
operations of Babcock &
Wilcox (now Framatome ANP),
rising through various management
positions to become president
and CEO of B&W Nuclear Technologies.
During this period, French president
Francois Mitterand presented
Dr. Pryor with the distinguished
Chevalier de l'Ordre National
du Merit for developing business
relationships between the United
States and France. In 1993 the
state of Virginia named him
outstanding industrialist of
the year.
Dr.
Pryor graduated from Virginia
Tech with a B.S. in civil engineering.
He holds an M.S. and a Ph.D.
in structural mechanics from
Virginia Tech and an M.B.A.
from Northeastern University.
