Dr. Charles W. Pryor, Jr.

Dr. Pryor was appointed chief executive of BNFL's Nuclear Utilities Business Group July 1, 2002. He is responsible for Westinghouse Electric Company and the commercial operations of BNFL's United Kingdom-based Spent Fuel and MOX fuel businesses and the related transport business. His appointment stems from a high-level restructuring of BNFL that aligned the company into two business groups: Nuclear Utilities and Government Services.

Prior to this position, he was president and CEO of Westinghouse Electric Company, headquartered in Pittsburgh. He was appointed president and CEO in 1999 when CBS Corporation sold the commercial nuclear businesses of Westinghouse Electric Corporation to BNFL.

During his Westinghouse tenure, Dr. Pryor led the Westinghouse acquisition of the ABB-Combustion Engineering nuclear businesses that transformed Westinghouse into a global nuclear power company with $1.8 billion in revenue and more than 9000 employees in every nuclear power region of the world.

He joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation as president of the Energy Systems business unit in 1997. He spent more 20 years with the nuclear power operations of Babcock & Wilcox (now Framatome ANP), rising through various management positions to become president and CEO of B&W Nuclear Technologies. During this period, French president Francois Mitterand presented Dr. Pryor with the distinguished Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merit for developing business relationships between the United States and France. In 1993 the state of Virginia named him outstanding industrialist of the year.

Dr. Pryor graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in civil engineering. He holds an M.S. and a Ph.D. in structural mechanics from Virginia Tech and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University.
