Jerry Saacks graduated from Tulane University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and joined Louisiana Power & Light Company, a subsidiary of MiddleSouth Utilities (later to be Entergy Corporation). He spent 32 years with them in various assignments. In early 1997, he joined Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC) as its Chief Operating Officer. He was named President and Chief Executive Officer in January, 2000. GSOC provides generation dispatch, data management, substation monitoring and control and support services for its two major customers, Oglethorpe Power Corporation (OPC) and Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC). GSOC also works directly with the 39 Member Cooperatives that own OPC, GTC and GSOC.
