Thomas L. Jackson, PE, D.WREThomas L. Jackson
Thomas L. Jackson, PE, D.WRE, is a consulting engineer, and President of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - East. He is retired from the national consulting Engineering firm DMJM Harris AECOM as Senior Vice President and Chief Engineer. Tom has been a leader in civil engineering since college at Tulane University and has served as the national President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and has also been active in the Red Cross, Louisiana Engineering Advancement Program for Minorities (LEAP) and Society of Tulane Engineers (STE). Tom has served on several Foundation Boards including the United Engineering Foundation as President, and the Civil Engineering Foundation as President.

Tom recently served on the fourteen member External Review Panel (ERP) that provided oversight of the Corps of Engineers Interagency Performance Evaluation Task Force which investigated the performance of the New Orleans area levees during Hurricane Katrina.

Education

"Panel Presentation: Hurricane Protection: Where Do We Stand?"

My presentation will focus on the creation of the new Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - E, the condition of the pre-Katrina flood protection around the New Orleans ares, where we are today, and where we go from here.
