This group is responsible for sales and account management for the entire portfolio of Sprint Nextel wireless and wireline services within Louisiana, Arkansas, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Mr. Langlinais has been with Sprint and Sprint Nextel for over six years - managing sales groups based in New Orleans and Atlanta, GA.

Prior to joining Sprint Corporation's E|Solutions Professional Services Consulting Group in 2000, Michael spent 15 years in various capacities with Xerox Corporation's computer systems-related business divisions.

A native of Lafayette, LA, he is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette), with a degree in Business Management.

"Re-engineering Sprint Nextel Corporations' Wireless and Wireline Networks For Survivability"

My discussion will center on Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and the damages suffered by our network. In the wake of Katrina, Sprint immediately ramped up an Emergency Response Team, which consisted of both on-the-ground engineers and support staff; plus Sprint Nextel Network Engineering and Support staff located all over the country. The immediate task was to restore communications as quickly as possible, and I will discuss this task, and what we accomplished.

Subsequently, Sprint Nextel network engineering staffs moved quickly to assess the damages and vulnerabilities, and begin the design of completely new facilities along the Gulf Coast. In the 12 months post-Katrina, Sprint Nextel completed a build-out of new facilities from Mobile to Hammond, LA, with an investment of over $22 Million dollars. This network infrastructure consists of both wireless and wireline assets, and also includes updated plans for disaster response.

The end result is a network that is significantly more redundant and survivable than anything in place prior to Katrina - and takes much more advantage of our leadership in Mobile Data Networking.
