Membership Requirements
Selection of student members is made in the senior year based on a student's academic record following seven semesters of college coursework. Students do not "apply" for election to Phi Beta Kappa; the Chapter screens student records to identify potential members. The criteria for election to Phi Beta Kappa are determined by the Chapter under guidelines of the national organization. There are two stages in the selection procedure; to be eligible for election, the student must satisfy certain minimum criteria:
- Full-time undergraduate student in Newcomb-Tulane College
- At least 60 credit hours in liberal arts and sciences coursework
- Significant breadth and depth of courework across the liberal arts and sciences, including advanced college-level coursework in mathematics and foreign language
- Good moral character
