Welcome to
The Tulane Cartilage Lab!

The primary mission of the Tulane Cartilage Lab (TCL), led by
Dr. J-K Francis Suh, is to seek ways to repair a damaged articular cartilage and to prevent and reverse the effects of a disease called osteoarthritis
.

Osteoarthritis is a disease in which the cartilage in people's joints is gradually worn away, eventually causing pain with movement.  In addition, the TCL also studies the injury and repair of various musculoskeletal soft tissues, such as tendon, ligament, and intervertebral disc.

More recently, the TCL has expanded its horizon beyond the musculoskeletal tissues.  They include the traumatic brain injury analysis using computational simulations and the effect of elevated intra-ocular pressure (IOP) on the glaucomatous neuropathy.
