Gameday Program
The purpose of this program is to introduce the faculty members of Tulane University to the game-day activities, as well as offer insight to the types of pressures and time constraints faced by college student-athletes.
The program should go a long way in opening communication between the faculty and the athletics department, and inform faculty of where to turn when problems arise. A major aspect of this program is that it allows faculty members to meet members of the athletics department, including the academic support staff, to develop positive working relationships.
Program Outline
Prior to each home football game the Office of Student-Athlete Academic Services will invite up to three members of the Tulane faculty to experience what football games and game preparation are like from an student-athlete’s perspective. Before the kickoff, faculty members will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet the coaching staff, have their picture taken with head football coach Bob Toledo on the 50-yard line, visit the locker room and the field prior to the game, and get the opportunity to sit alongside recruits as they hear about what Tulane has to offer prospective student-athletes. They also will be provided with field passes so that they can experience what a sports event is like from the sidelines.
See the football schedule for dates of home games.
Any Tulane faculty member who would like to participate in the guest faculty program can contact Charlotte Battiest, Senior Athletic Academic Counselor at cbatties@tulane.edu.
