Kane is Director of Logistics and Transportation Cluster Development for the
State of Louisiana, Department of Economic Development in Baton Rouge, LA.
Prior to joining the State of Louisiana in October 2001, David held various marketing and logistics management positions with Consolidated Rail Corporation, Philadelphia, PA; Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Neenah, WI; Bangor & Aroostook Railroad Company, Bangor, ME; Pfizer Specialty Minerals/Minerals Technologies, Inc., New York, NY, and Chemical Lime Company, Birmingham, AL. David is a 20+ year veteran of transportation and logistics with extensive rail, truck, marine, and air freight experience. His marketing and industrial & consumer products logistics background uniquely qualifies him to represent the State of Louisiana in matters of logistics and transportation development to corporations who will benefit by locating their operations in Louisiana and to assist firms already located in Louisiana.
Similar to supply chain management, David sees his role in cluster development as leading the integration of business processes across boundaries, among corporations, organizations, and functions, along any supply chain from raw material procurement to finished goods distribution, to add value. In addition to dealing with the expansion of transportation infrastructure for economic development, the logistics and transportation cluster spans the boundaries of the other 9 clusters the State of Louisiana has identified as its core industries or industries it wishes to encourage.
David received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a MBA from Troy State University at Troy, AL. David is licensed to practice before the Surface Transportation Board and holds a commercial helicopter pilot license with instrument rating.
